Efficient drying for faster and better results

Do you want to reduce the drying time of your wood and optimize its quality? Pre-drying is the way to speed up the natural drying process and protect your wood from the weather. At Gendis, we ensure that your wood is optimally prepared for further drying and processing.

How does pre-drying work?

Is your wood already pre-dried upon arrival? Then your wood is immediately placed in our special pre-drying chamber, with a capacity of 750 m³. Here we remove the ‘free moisture’ in a controlled manner. Thanks to various measuring points in the batch, we keep a close eye on the process. As soon as the wood reaches a moisture percentage of approx. 25% (fiber saturation point), we move it to our conventional drying chambers for further drying to the desired level.

What types of wood are suitable?

Any wood species benefits from pre-drying, but the benefits are greater in species such as:

• Oak
• Cambara
• Western Red Cedar
• Poplar

An essential part of the drying process

A good start is crucial for a successful end result. Pre-drying contributes to a more efficient and even drying process, in which the correct method of stickering up and down plays an important role. In addition, good moisture control can contribute to effective heat treatment, for example for packaging wood that has to meet international requirements.
